How we calculate
This calculator estimates real-world driving range by adjusting published vehicle range figures — drawn from manufacturer and authoritative third-party testing sources — for three factors that meaningfully affect battery efficiency:
- Driving style — how gently or aggressively you drive
- Trip type — city commuting, highway road trips, towing
- Climate — ambient temperature and HVAC load
Adjustments are modelled on published research from a range of authoritative sources, including the U.S. Department of Energy, Idaho National Laboratory’s Advanced Vehicle Testing Activity, and the SAE tow-rating standard.
